Introducing the Free Contest: Pick Real Lines, Get Graded, and Climb the Sharpest-Capper Leaderboard

SharpCapper now has a free-to-play contest. You make your picks against the real sportsbook lines we serve, we grade every one against the result, and a leaderboard ranks you on closing-line value, the one number that cannot be faked. No real money, no sportsbook, prizes coming soon.

What the contest is

The free contest is a paper sportsbook. You browse the day's games, tap a side at the line we show, and we log it. There is no money at stake and no sportsbook to link. When the game finishes we grade your pick against the real result and score it, and a public leaderboard ranks every player. It is the free, main way to play SharpCapper. The AI Analyst, daily picks, and Edge Board stay the paid tools you use to get sharper.

How a pick works

Pick a moneyline, spread, or total on any game on the board. The moment you tap, the server captures the price from our own odds history, not a number you typed, and stamps the time. That matters: because you can only pick the lines we show, and we capture the price for you, nobody can invent a fake price or edit a record after the result is known. Every entry is one flat unit, so the leaderboard is about being right, not about staking more than the next person.

Why we rank on closing-line value

The leaderboard is ranked on closing-line value, or CLV: how far the price you locked beat where the line closed. CLV is the single most reliable sign of a sharp bettor, because beating the closing line consistently is exactly what the market rewards over time. Win rate and raw units are easy to run up with variance or volume. CLV measured from our own open to our own close is not. That is why the ranking means something here and, honestly, nowhere else, competitors cannot verify their own players the way we can.

The math keeps it fair

A hot week should not top a full season, so a player's average CLV regresses toward zero until they have volume behind it, and you need at least ten graded picks to appear on the ranked board at all. A lucky night cannot leap a grinder. There are four windows, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly, so a strong week and a strong year both have a place to shine.

Beat the SharpCapper AI

SharpCapper's own AI sits on the board as the benchmark to beat. Its line is computed from the CLV of the real picks it posts every day, the same daily picks and digest calls it already publishes and grades in public, so it is a real, every-day participant, not a straw man. If you can beat the AI's closing-line value over a window, you have earned the top of the board.

Your capper profile and following

Claim a handle and you get a public capper page at your own /capper URL, the record you build, shown win or lose. Other players can find you, follow you, and tail your live plays into their own Bet Tracker. You can claim your handle right from the Play page or the Bet Tracker, it is one identity across both. Private picks stay private and never touch the leaderboard.

No real money now, prizes later

The contest is free to play and stays that way. Prizes for the sharpest cappers are on the roadmap, but we are not promising a date, the first goal is to make the ranking trustworthy and the competition fun. For now the board is bragging rights on a record nobody can fake. When prizes come, we will announce the details openly.

Start with one pick

You do not need a bankroll or a paid plan to play. Make one free pick against tonight's lines, claim your handle, and watch where you land once it grades. Then, when you want an edge, the analyst, daily picks, and Edge Board are right there to help you climb.
